Can you believe summer is just around the corner? It’s been a few difficult months for all of us but it looks like we are finally turning the corner and this beautiful weather has certainly helped us feel happier, more energised and more positive.
There are many ways in which we can take care of our mind, body and soul and in this blog we’ll give you some tips to create a self care ritual to nourish your mind, body and soul.
1. Eat nutritious and wholesome foods Nutrition can make or break your health. What you put inside our body can have a positive or negative impact in every aspect of our bodies, including our mental health.
It is important that you stick to a balanced diet, but what does a balanced diet look like? Well a balanced diet has all the macronutrients- proteins, fats and carbohydrates and micronutrients- all the vitamins and minerals our body needs for optimal function. This means that your diet must include:
A variety of vegetables and fruits each day (eat the rainbow)
Limit intake of processed and sugary foods and drinks
Drink plenty of water each day
Choose whole grains
Swap caffeine for herbal or fruit teas
Up your protein intake with each meal
2. Have a cup of tea
Drinking high quality tea can actually make you feel relaxed, refreshed and happy. Sipping a cup of tea can take you back to that time when you felt at peace and bring back those feelings of joy as you sip that cuppa.
Many cultures enjoy tea rituals in order to practice gratitude and respect and you can sip a cup of tea to make your own ritual of taking a moment for yourself, which will help you calm and think more clearly.
3. Enjoy a healing bath
Baths can bring an immense feeling of relaxation and joy. Those 20-30 (or longer) minutes you take for yourself to have a bath, can have enormous healing powers in your physical body as well as your mind.
Take a bath with high quality relaxing bath salts with a delicious aroma to detoxify, re energise, soothe your muscles and fully relax. 4. Stretch with yoga Yoga is such a powerful practice, not just for the body but for the mind too. Yoga helps stretch muscles loosening all those knots on your neck, shoulders and other areas of the body.
We love w hot yoga but any regular yoga practice can have amazing benefits on your mind, body and soul. Try and create a yoga practice each day for at least 10 minutes either first thing in the morning or before bed.
5. Practice Meditation
A regular meditation practice can have wonderful benefits that you start noticing pretty much right away. Some of the benefits of meditation include; stress and anxiety reduction, self-awareness, improved memory and attention span, being present.
Meditation has many forms such as having a quiet cup of tea whilst looking outside the window or sitting in the garden, having a long healing bath, a walk in nature, chanting mantras, listening to a meditation tape, visualising, appreciating, reflection, colouring, painting, knitting and much more.
The important thing is to focus on the here and now and enjoy every moment. Please take time for yourself, it is important for you to be happy, calm and at peace so you can project those vibes to the people around you.
